Analog Circuit Design Engineer

Dataforth designs and locally builds precision, robust products for use in industrial process control and data acquisition applications around the globe. Staff engineers each have primary responsibility for a given product development effort and are integral in the design process from inception through onsite volume production. Individual engineering offices are well resourced with workbenches, instruments, development and debug tools. An adjacent onsite engineering lab has a wide range of equipment for product characterization and compliance testing. Scope of Responsibilities
  • Architectural design and technical specification of high-performance products
  • Board level mixed signal circuit design involving isolation and protection circuitry
  • Interface analog circuits to microcontrollers and high-resolution data converters
  • Learn existing circuit designs and technologies, incorporating as appropriate in new designs
  • Identification and qualification of discrete and integrated components, cables, housings
  • Specify electronic equipment for product characterization and production test
  • Assist in the design of circuits, fixtures, and wiring harnessing for production test
  • Assist in optimization of and feature addition for existing products
  • Interact with engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and management to meet design goals
Skills, Experience & Education
  • Product design experience involving moderately complex analog and digital circuits
  • Problem solving using innovation, creative thinking, and collaboration with team members
  • Fluency with circuit simulation and analysis software, CAD schematic capture and pcb layout
  • Design for manufacturability including design for test
  • Design and construction of test circuits for product qualification
  • Characterization & troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, EMC equipment
  • Emphasis on good documentation practices and keeping complete and organized records
  • Knowledge of production test requirements and parameters
  • 3+ years circuit and product design
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering
