Job Description
Dataforth Corporation is seeking a Systems Engineer (Product Definer) to join our Sales & Marketing team. Product Definer and Systems Engineers possess detailed knowledge of the company products and customer applications in order to provide essential support to customers worldwide, identify new product needs, and create new product definitions. This role will report to the Sales & Marketing manager.

Job Responsibilities
  • Developing a deep understanding of the signal conditioning and data acquisition market
  • Research new product ideas and create new product definitions, including developing business case proposals and product strategies
  • Analyze key applications in various industries such as but not limited to automotive, aerospace, industrial, consumer and computing spaces to identify future trends, identifying opportunities for improving performance, and adding value to these applications
  • Assess and negotiate development tradeoffs with design team and customers
  • Build relationships with customers & sales channel teams by closely interacting with them to identify and solve customer problems with Dataforth solutions
  • Support and train sales organizations on new & existing products
  • Relentlessly drive new design wins for new and existing products
  • Bring quick solutions to customer problems by interfacing across different functional groups such as application support, design, production, test, marketing and sales
  • Assist with generating the revenue plan for the organization
  • Create technical literature such as but not limited to datasheets, application notes, user's guides, etc.
Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Understanding of sensors, signal conditioning, and data acquisition applications
  • Experience promoting/marketing electronic components and driving design wins
  • Good listener and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with lab equipment

  • Experience in translating customer requirements into new product ideas

Firmware Development Engineer

Dataforth designs and manufactures precision, robust electronics for use in harsh industrial process control and data acquisition applications around the globe. Dataforth is seeking a Firmware Development Engineer to join our team in Tucson, Arizona. The engineering department is structured with designers working in their area of expertise as a primary resource on an individual project as well as providing support to designers on other projects. Experienced, fast-learning individuals will integrate quickly into the team and can make significant contributions to product development. Engineering offices have a workbench, development and debug tools, and instruments. An adjacent engineering lab with ample space and high-end equipment provides ready access to all resources required for development efforts.

Required Skills
  • Product design using microcontrollers, peripherals, and SoCs
  • Fluent with IoT and IIoT technologies in process automation and industrial control
  • Proficiency in C and C++
  • Product design using compilers, linkers, debuggers, troubleshooting tools
  • Demonstrated use of standard coding and documentation practices
  • Use of version control systems (Git) for development
  • Hands on experience with development boards and support packages
  • Development of bootloaders, drivers, and applications
Design Activities
  • Develop embedded firmware for high performance industrial automation products
  • Interface microcontrollers to precision data converters and analog I/O circuits
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers on product architecture
  • Develop leading solutions for process control
  • Develop methods and tools for product characterization
  • Develop manufacturing test for products developed
Required Education & Experience
  • BSEE or BSCE, advanced degrees are preferred
  • Two or more years of experience developing embedded firmware
  • Two or more years of experience in product design

Hardware Design Engineer

The ideal hardware design candidate will...
  • Have extensive design experience in moderately complex analog and digital circuits
  • Be proficient characterizing and troubleshooting circuits using tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency generators, logic analyzers
  • Be fluent with circuit simulation and analysis software
  • Have experience with schematic and layout design programs
  • Evaluate and qualify discrete and integrated circuit components
  • Design test circuits for product qualification
  • Design fixtures, circuits, and wiring harnesses for production test of released product
