Embedded Design Engineer Job Description Dataforth seeks a full time Embedded Design Engineer to join our staff of analog, firmware, and software design engineers in Tucson, Arizona. Dataforth is a worldwide leader in Instrument Class Industrial Electronics. We design and manufacture high performance signal conditioning, data acquisition and control, and data communication products that play a vital role in industrial and test and measurement applications. Started in 1984, the original entrepreneurial venture was spawned from the Burr-Brown Corporation, an international leader in analog integrated circuits and related products and now part of Texas Instruments, Inc. Products include industrial communication modems, two-wire transmitters, sensor interface modules with a high level of isolation and protection, and modular DAQ systems with associated software. Engineering activities require a high level of analog and digital circuit design and coding expertise to achieve industry leading performance. As part of the Dataforth design team you will be working with individuals who specialize in these areas and have many years of real world experience. Embedded design in the engineering department includes development, debug, and test of firmware for small to mid-range microcontrollers and SoCs. Products utilize technological advances in hardware to provide modern solutions for factory automation and demanding small and large scale applications where data integrity is essential. Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) function and connectivity provides modern solutions for distributed SCADA. The structure of the engineering staff allows involvement in design from product inception through manufacturing. Contributions from individual staff members have direct influence on corporate success. Individuals with interest and expertise beyond embedded development have opportunities to contribute in other hardware, software, and test equipment projects. Close coupling between Engineering and Manufacturing offers designers a unique product development environment. Design engineers interface with the marketing and sales team and with customers to provide optimal solutions for challenging applications around the globe. Work experience in embedded design is preferred. Laboratory and hobby experience is helpful. Experience with IIoT design, wireless communications, and mobile application development are highly desirable. Proficiency with standard embedded development and debug tools is necessary. Candidates must be fluent with standard coding practices, code documentation, and version control software. Required degree levels are BSEE, BSCE, or BSCS. Advanced degrees are preferred.
