Hardware Design Engineer

Dataforth designs and manufactures precision, robust electronics for use in harsh industrial process control and data acquisition applications around the globe. Dataforth is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join our team in Tucson, Arizona. Design engineers are part of a small group and each is a primary resource on an individual project, working mostly self-directed. Experienced, fast-learning individuals looking for opportunities to make significant contributions to product development will integrate quickly into the team.

The ideal hardware design candidate will...
  • Have extensive design experience in moderately complex analog and digital circuits
  • Be proficient characterizing and troubleshooting circuits using tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, frequency generators, logic analyzers
  • Be fluent with circuit simulation and analysis software
  • Have experience with schematic and layout design programs
  • Evaluate and qualify discrete and integrated circuit components
  • Design test circuits for product qualification
  • Design fixtures, circuits, and wiring harnesses for production test of released product
On the job you will...
  • Design and develop circuits for new products primarily based on existing technology
  • Interface precision analog front-end I/O circuits to microcontrollers
  • Collaborate with embedded design engineers on circuitry selection & product architecture
  • Optimize circuit performance for high resolution data conversion
  • Work with support engineers and Sales & Marketing to understand customer needs and develop leading solutions
  • Specify and oversee development of manufacturing test for products you design
  • Have an office workbench populated with development and debug tools and instruments
  • Have an adjacent engineering lab with ample space and high end equipment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Advanced degrees are preferred
  • Two or more years of experience developing embedded firmware
  • Two or more years of experience in product design
